Happy November! For those still getting over their Halloween hangover, I hear you. I’m recovering from the rush of last week’s QuickPitch, where we saw a diverse group of founders in terms of industries represented. In the end, two OC-based companies took home the top honors , Agtools and Eyedaptics, with JLabs-based biotech startup 1859 rounding out third. Congrats to all of the finalists!
Speaking of congrats, Fresh Brewed Tech is honored to be named one of the top local newsletters by the San Diego Press Club. Our team was also recognized for our WebSideStory Mafia series and the Original Godfathers of San Diego Tech photo essay during the recent 46th Annual Excellence in Journalism Awards . We are excited to bring you more compelling and in-depth looks inside our growing ecosystem.
It is pretty cool to see the strength of SoCal’s tech ecosystem in general. As I’ve been traveling to and from Orange County this past year, I’ve noticed the similarities of the OC and SD tech communities and how even more reliant founders are on both, in some cases even more so than on LA. (If you want to find out more about what’s happening in the OC tech community, join our newsletter, Fresh Squeezed Tech ).
Looking ahead, we have the SD Innovation Showcase on November 6, and I hope you’ll come out and see a wide swatch of startups pitching. I’ll be on a panel about the power of ecosystems immediately after the morning keynote.
Also don’t forget to apply for the SD Angel Conference by December 18, which will be awarding $200,000 at its March pitch event.
